Questions
- What is a hex color code?
- A hex code is a six-digit number in base 16 that describes a color for screens, like #9CAF88. The first two digits are red, the middle two green and the last two blue, each from 00 (none) to FF (full).
- How do I find the hex code of a color?
- Use the color picker above, or upload a photo to the image color picker and click the color you want. You can also search by color name in the box at the top of every page.
- How many hex colors are there?
- There are 16,777,216 hex colors (256 × 256 × 256). Every one has its own page here, at /hex/ followed by the six digits.
- What is the difference between HEX, RGB and HSL?
- They describe the same screen colors in different ways. HEX and RGB both give the amount of red, green and blue (HEX in base 16, RGB from 0 to 255). HSL gives hue, saturation and lightness, which is easier to adjust by hand.
